In fall 2024, Historic Tyler, Inc. completed a major project: a coffee table book titled An Invitation to Preservation: A Photographic Collection of the Historic Homes of Tyler. The book features 293 pages of exquisite photographs and the fascinating history of over 80 historic homes in Tyler dating from 1850-1973. This publication—four years in the making—will serve as an additional fundraiser for our nonprofit organization to help strengthen our financial capacity and catalyze more preservation projects.
Authors and contributors include: Ashley Washmon (concept and design), Allison Jarvis (writer), Tiffany Tuley Grassmuck (writer), and Casey Nelson Squyres (photographer).
An integral part of Historic Tyler’s mission is to promote historic preservation through education. An Invitation to Preservation serves not only as a fundraiser, but—more importantly—the book documents Tyler’s historic landscape for future generations.
